Top Ten Tuesday (8)

toptentuesday Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s list is a Valentine's Day freebie, which is right up my alley as a romance reader! Examples are Top Ten Books That Would Make Great Valentine's Day Reads (or anti-Valentine's day reads), Top Ten OTPs, Top 10 fictional crushes, top ten great love declarations in fiction, swoony quotes from books, etc. This is a chance to get creative!

So...I'm going to create a list of some of my favorite romance novel meet cutes! In case you don't know what a meet cute is...a meet cute is a fictional scene in which a future romantic couple meets for the first time in a way that is considered adorable, entertaining, or amusing.

Top Ten Meet Cutes in Romance Novels (in no particular order)

Nobody but You by Jill Shalvis

So...this book isn't even out yet, and I only got to read the beginning at the end of the last book in the series (My Kind of Wonderful), but I can already tell you that the meet cute may be the meet cute of all meet cutes.

Neighbors with Benefits by Marissa Clarke

Uptight, control freak, CEO Michael Anderson and free-spirited artist Mia Argaropolis, a froufy dog, club-level loud music, and a shrieking fire alarm...what more could a meet cute need?

Born in Ice by Nora Roberts

Brianna is sleeping when her dog goes crazy because not only is a storm raging outside, but a stranger just slammed into the B&B--a stranger that looks a lot like a serial killer at first but really ends up being Brianna's B&B guest (a sexy bestselling author of horror novels) who arrived a day early.

Save the Date by Jenny B. Jones

Poor Lucy is determined to figure out why funding was pulled from her non-profit only to have her dress and accessories fall apart in a room full of fancy and powerful people--inlcuding Alex Sinclair, former professional football star and heir to Sinclair Enterprises—the primary (ex) donor to Lucy's non-profit organization.

Rush Me by Allison Parr

Rachael Hamilton accidentally gate-crashes a pro-athlete party and ends up face-to-face with Ryan Carter, the NFL's most beloved quarterback. They really don't get along, but when they surprisingly get thrown together time after time...

Driving Her Crazy by Kira Archer

Nothing like your future love interest seeing at your worst. But I can't blame Cher for being cranky after finding out her flight is cancelled and that the last rental car was just rented--by the extremely attractive guy she noticed earlier.

Yours to Keep by Shannon Stacey

It was hilarious when Emma showed up at Sean's door to tell him that they were fake engaged, and Sean didn't even know who Emma was! Such a great story.

Betting on the Wrong Brother by Cathryn Fox

Nothing like running into a hot guy (who may or may not be a past enemy) while changing your clothes in an elevator that was stuck only a second ago only to start working again at the most inopportune moment.

Wrong Bed, Right Guy by Katee Robert

I mean...the title says it all. Prim and proper Elle is looking to seduce her hot boss by jumping into bed with him. The only problem is that she ends up jumping into bed with her boss' brother. Whoops.

The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen

One of my all time favorite books! Now, when Wes and Macy first meet, they don't really fully interact, but Macy is scared by Wes' younger brother yelling "Gotcha" (a case of mistaken identity) and Wes ends up helping Macy pick up the flyers she threw everywhere. So, not exactly a straight up meet cute, but the feels are just so real in this moment.

Double Dare (Neighbor from Hell #6) by R.L. Mathewson

Each book in this series has a meet cute of sorts, but Double Dare is probably one of my favorite meet cutes because it happens when Marybeth and Darrin are just kids (like 7 or so). There are dares and broken bones and mini Darrin saying that he calls dibs on Marybeth so his twin brother can't have her (I realize that sounds objectifying the way I wrote that, but it's not like that).

Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake (Love By Numbers #1) by Sarah MacLean

I mean, come on, Lady Calpurnia Hartwell first meets Gabriel St. John, the Marquess of Ralston, dressed up as boy. That's definitely a story tell the grandkids one day!

Okay, so that's more than 10, but I couldn't seem to help myself! I can even make the list longer, but I'll stop there. And I promise that the meet cutes are better than I could describe them. They're just something you have to experience for yourself.
